The Upstream Side of Roosevelt Dam

The Upstream Side of Roosevelt Dam

Al Sieber died near here leading a work party of Apaches who were helping to build the road to the dam during its early construction. He was attempting to loosen a large boulder which the party had tried all day to move when it shifted and rolled over him, crushing him to death. The original marker has been replaced (I saw it years ago when time and the wind had left it barely legible). Dan Thrapp in his definitive work, Al Sieber, Chief of Scouts, places the spot where Sieber was killed on the other side of the road from the current marker.
