The Greater Roadrunner is a bird of the southwestern United States that, although capable of flight, spends most of its time on the ground. It can run at speeds of up to 20 mph. It feeds upon insects, reptiles, rodents, small birds, arthropods including scorpions, tarantulas, and centipedes as well as lizards, snakes, mice, young ground squirrels, and sometimes snails, fruits and seeds.
